Rooibos is a refined fynbos species that forms part of the world-renowned Cape Floral Kingdom and is endemic to the mountain ranges in the South Western part of South Africa, where our farm is located. Rooibos grows nowhere else in the world except in this tiny geographical location.
Tierberg is the heart of our farm which has been in our family for six generations since 1836. Tierberg is directly translated as Leopard mountain, because wild leopards used to roam there. The pleasure is ours….
All our Rooibos is grown on top of Tierberg, more than 1000m above sea level and the growing conditions on the mountain are textbook quality for producing the finest Rooibos.
The cold nights, hot days, wet winters, dry summers and the mineral rich Bokkeveld series soil on the plateau all contribute to the development of Tierberg Rooibos’s character, aroma and colour.
Fact or fiction?Antioxidants are substances that protects your body cells from free radicals (modules produced when your body breaks down food or when exposed to tobacco smoke or radiation). This in the long term may reduce the risk of heart diseases or cancer. Although some evidence suggests these antioxidants are inefficiently absorbed by your body – every little bit helps and no harm done!
Rooibos is naturally caffeine free and all ages can enjoy a cup of Rooibos any time of the day.
